Chris Hinton, a native of Raymond, Mississippi, assumed the position of Project Manager for Natchez, Inc. February 2011. His primary duties include working with existing businesses to help meet their needs and assisting in industrial recruitment efforts. He brings a wealth of knowledge to this position through his graduate studies at the University of Southern Mississippi, his work with the Mississippi Economic Development Council, Inc. and the Southern Economic Development Council, the 17-state regional economic development association, where he serves as a Charter Member for the SEDC Young Professionals Committee.
Chris obtained an M.S. in Economic Development from the University of Southern Mississippi and a B.A. in Economics-Business Administration from Tougaloo College. He previously worked for the Mississippi Economic Development Council, the Center for Business Development & Economic Research, Mississippi Dept. of Rehabilitation Services in Disability Determination and the Jackson Redevelopment Authority with the City of Jackson. Through this employment, he realized the importance of working to improve the quality of life for residents and employees. This passion sparked his interest in a career in the field of economic development.
Chris currently is a member of the Natchez Trace Kiwanis Club, Leadership Natchez, the Mississippi Economic Development Council and the Southern Economic Development Council. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Natchez-Adams County Habitat for Humanity and the Mississippi State University Broadband Community Advisory Council. He previously served on the Community Advisory Board for Big Brothers Big Sisters of MS.
He is a life member of both the Tougaloo College National Alumni Association and the Southern Miss Alumni Association. He was recently honored by the Mississippi Business Journal as one of its Top 40 Under 40 Award recipients.
Chris currently resides in Natchez. In his leisure time, he enjoys music, reading, fishing, and traveling with family and friends.
