generations. Rich in heritage, Natchez and Adams County, Mississippi are places where the strength of tradition mingles with the excitement of the

Low Cost of Living
The cost of living index is below average according to America's Most
Livable Towns and Villages. On average a typical home in Natchez costs
about $100,000 compared to the national average of $214,800, making
Natchez a most desirable place in which to live.
Strong Law Enforcement
The crimes reported in Natchez have been declining at a rate of 3% to 4%
per year for the last eight years. The Natchez Police Department employs 50
sworn officers and sponsors a very successful Neighborhood Watch program
as a crime deterrent. The Adams County Sheriff's Office, headquartered in
Natchez, provides protection to the rural areas of Adams County, employing
24 full-time deputies.
Quality Education
 The Natchez-Adams School District operates four elementary schools, one
middle school, one high school and one alternative school for the county.
Five private or parochial schools are also located in the Natchez area. Three
private schools - Adams County Christian School, Cathedral School and
Trinity Episcopal Day School cover pre-school through twelfth grade. Holy
Family School covers pre-school through fifth grade and offers a complete
elementary program. Maranatha covers pre-school through second grade.

Secondary vocational-technical education is available through the public
school district at the Natchez-Adams County Vocational Center. The district
offers vocational-technical programs to high school students planning
immediate employment or advanced vocational study.
 Comprehensive post-secondary vocational-technical education and training is
available at Copiah-Lincoln Community College. This community college
offers a number of technical curricula as well as preparatory curricula for
further study in the field of vocational-technical education.
Higher education is available in Natchez through Alcorn State University and
a branch of Copiah-Lincoln Community College and Natchez College.
The Alcorn State University MBA program is housed in modern state of the
art facilities here in Natchez. Also located here is Alcorn’s Division of Nursing
which comprises two departments, the Associate Degree and the
Baccalaureate Nursing Department.
The Copiah-Lincoln Community College Natchez campus offers Associate of
Arts and Associate of Applied Science degrees, as well as a variety of career
and technical programs, and continuing education classes.
Quality Healthcare
 Health Care here is state-of-the-art. The physicians keep up-to-date in the
latest medical research and pride themselves in quality patient care.
Adams County is served by two hospitals with 306 beds: Natchez Regional
Medical Center and Natchez Community Hospital. The county is also served
by four nursing homes: Adams County Nursing Home, Glenburney Nursing
Home, Magnolia House, and Trace Haven Nursing Home.
Approximately 400 licensed healthcare professionals work in the area,
including specialists in orthopedics, radiology, dermatology, urology,
gastroenterology, anesthesiology, ophthalmology, family practice, dentistry,
internal medicine, pediatrics, pulmonary medicine, oncology, pathology,
general surgery, obstetrics/gynecology and ear/nose/throat.

Arts, Culture, & Preservation
 From the Festival of Music to the Great Mississippi River Balloon Race, Natchez certainly has its share of culture
and festivities. The people here have always had
a knack for thinking outside the box. They’ve looked for new opportunities to
utilize their natural resources and geographical prominence.
The variety, quality and number of arts and culture events here contribute in
many ways to the whole community’s vibrancy. Through its arts and culture
events, our cultural heritage is enhanced, providing venues for new and
established talents, generating artistic works and ideas.

Shopping
Adams County is the regional trade center of the Miss-Lou area, serving
shoppers within a 50-mile radius. The Natchez Mall, which includes two
major department stores, Belk and JCPenney, has 38 other specialty
stores as well as a four-screen cinema. Downtown Natchez also provides
numerous specialty and antique shops filled with treasures and trinkets.
Abundant Recreation
At least 10 months of fine weather each year and a combination of resources
- including lakes, woodlands and wildlife - make outdoor recreation a
favorable element in Natchez' quality of life. Hunting and fishing are
excellent, as are golfing, paddling, bicycling, jogging, swimming, tennis,
baseball, football, soccer and other sports.
Much of this activity takes place in Natchez' parks, including city-owned
parks, such as 200-acre Duncan Park. Smaller city parks are Bluff Park
along the river, Memorial Park on Main Street, Natchez National Historical
Park, Natchez State Park and the Natchez Trace Parkway.
The Natchez Recreation Department is dedicated to responding to the
community’s needs by enriching lives through life-long leisure
